I've many fond memories about Aunt Antoinette. But, here's one that speaks to her stellar baking and cooking skills. This was a very long time ago since I'd just started baking family favorites I was making a ricotta pie.
I has a question about the crust.. Do I bake the crust before adding the filling or what-a new baker's dilemma, at least it was mine! My Mom was away and not readily available for a phone call (cell phones were't even thought of at the time) I had all the ingredients in the bowl and so I needed a quick answer.
So, I said " What am I going to do? " Oh, I know, I'll call Aunt Antoinette" And I did and the pie came out ok. She was wonderful.
