Marie (Galvin) DeGraw's Obituary
Marie (Galvin) DeGraw passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. Born in Manhattan on October 3, 1934, Marie grew up on the Upper West Side and graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School in 1952. After dear friends introduced Marie to her beloved husband, Tucker (Seneca) DeGraw, they wed in November 1960. Together they raised three children, Jim, Jeanette, and Lydia, in Brooklyn, NY, and, after Marie and Tucker both retired, they moved to Key Colony Beach, Florida. In more recent years, Marie lived in Fayetteville, NY, closer to her beloved family.
Marie was a computer programmer for the New York Telephone Company, both before having and then again after her children had entered school. More importantly, she was an active part of the community wherever she lived, whether serving on the school board at St. Frances Cabrini in Brooklyn, volunteering with multiple organizations in the Florida Keys, playing mahjong with friends, or just being “MaMa” — a wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother and companion. Marie also was an avid hockey fan till the end, with an especially warm spot in her heart for the NY Rangers of the 1970s and 80s.
Marie is survived by her three children and their spouses, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply. She is predeceased by Tucker, as well as her parents, James and Margaret (Gallagher) Galvin, her sisters, Kathleen and Margaret “Peggy” (Frank) Filete.
Private services will be held at a later date.
