Marie C. (Zingaro) Bova's Obituary
Marie C. Bova, 91, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was peaceful and surrounded by family at the time of her passing. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of Anthony and Amelia Zingaro.
Marie was a teaching assistant with the Syracuse City School District and taught at Webster Elementary and Salem Hyde Elementary Schools. She retired from the SCSD in 1999.
Marie was a resident of Loretto in the Fahey Building, 4th floor for the past three years and considered the staff and her floor-mates as her extended family. Marie dedicated her life to raising her grandson, Brett, who remained by her side daily, providing her with love and devotion.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Bova and her daughter, Deborah ”Debbie” Bova.
Marie is survived by her grandson, Brett Forkhamer; her sister-in-law, Josephine Zingaro, along with many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 9 - 10 AM, immediately followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Marie’s life at 10 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME.
