Marilyn G. Campagna's Obituary
Marilyn G. Campagna, 80, of Syracuse, passed away September 12, 2023, at Francis House surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late James and Florence (Perkins) Gleason. Marilyn graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School, and Marywood University. She taught 1st grade before her children were born and was a 3rd Grade Religious Education Teacher for 30 years at Holy Family Church. Marilyn was an avid golfer, enjoyed Bunko and Home Bureau, was a member of the “Knitwits”, enjoyed going to plays with friends, and going out to lunch and dinner. Marilyn also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially hosting holidays, family brunches and dinners.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Mary Beth Hurkens, her brother, Thomas Gleason and sister-in-law, Cathy Gleason.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Edward M. Campagna; two daughters, Cathy (Jeff) Bonacci and Anne Marie (Joe) Clabaugh; her son, Edward (Jennifer) Campagna; grandchildren, Caroline Epperson (Peter), Katelyn Clabaugh, Laura Hurkens, Michael Bonacci, Melanie Hurkens, Chris Bonacci, Lindsay Hurkens, Eddie Campagna; great-grandchildren, Dean, Sammy, and Zayden Epperson; sister-in-law, Carol (John) Marshall.
Thank you to all the neighbors, friends and family for all they have done, and special thanks to Hospice and Francis House.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Church or Francis House.
