Marilyn (Reschke) Jackson's Obituary
Marilyn R. Jackson, 89, of Liverpool, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Elderwood Nursing Home. Her deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and her strong belief in the power of prayer continued until she was reunited in heaven with family and friends. She was born in Syracuse on May 22, 1927. Marilyn graduated from Assumption Academy and was employed by the New York Telephone Company.
Marilyn adored her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She was always a great supporter of Assumption Church and School. Marilyn enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Florida, Jamaica and Mexico, and was the quintessential sun-worshipper. While some people love to cook or bake, Marilyn loved to shop. Some of her best friends were the sales associates at The Addis Company, Chappell’s, Dey Brothers, E.W. Edwards, Flah’s, and Sibley’s. There were few people more excited than Marilyn when the Carousel Mall opened.
She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Beatrice Reschke and her sister, Erdine Leskoske.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joseph Jackson of Liverpool; daughters, Susan (Paul) Shubmehl of Syracuse, Patricia Jackson of Liverpool, and Mary Beth (William) Donovan of Liverpool; grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica) DiMarco of Syracuse, Morgan (Devin Mackie) Donovan of Boston, and Lauren Donovan of Boston; great-granddaughter, Lilly DiMarco (“My Baby”), her brother, Richard (Patricia) Reschke of Fairmount and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank these very caring physicians and their staffs: Dr. Sharon Brangman, Dr. Michael Damiano, Dr. Santo DiFino, Dr. Richard Hehir, Dr. Philip Kreitzer, Dr. Andres Madissoo, Dr. Madhavi Menon, Dr. Amy Reynders, Dr. Patrick Riccardi and Dr. Sam Spalding. Special gratitude and appreciation goes out to the incredibly loving, caring, and professional staff of Elderwood Nursing Home’s second floor west wing and the “fabulous floaters.”
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 11:00 a.m. at the Franciscan Church of the Assumption where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Francis House, 108 Michael's Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
