Maris Rose DeStephano, 82, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on June 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on June 9, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Vincent F. Musilli and Angeline R. (Gordon) Mohr.
She is survived by her husband, James DeStephano, of 56 years; children, Mark, Daniel, and Jill (Matthew Ricciardiello); granddaughter, Liliana; sister, Sherry (Robert) Kohler; several cousins, nieces, and nephews, and many friends who will deeply miss her vibrant personality.
A proud graduate of North High School, Maris enjoyed sharing fond memories of her younger years, growing up on Syracuse’s Northside.
She formerly worked at State Farm Insurance on James St. in Eastwood.
Maris loved and was devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with them, often enjoying a glass of White Merlot. Maris was always there to listen and to give advice. She always worked hard to make holidays and other celebrations special. Maris also loved all the dogs she welcomed into her family over the years.
In recent years, her greatest joy was becoming a grandmother. She adored spending time with her granddaughter, Liliana, with whom she had a special bond.
Maris will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
