Marjorie L. (Bailey) Montanaro's Obituary
Marjorie Louise (Bailey) Montanaro, 94, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Born and raised in Beaufort, SC, she relocated to Syracuse to marry Frank J. Montanaro after they met on Parris Island Marine Corps Base. Marjorie and Frank’s nine children were the source of her greatest joy. She is celebrated by her six remaining children for her selfless commitment, unconditional love, sense of humor, and tender nurturance; truly an inspirational Mom. Also revered for her fried chicken, smushin’, Gran’s soup, banana pudding, lemon ice box cake and Christmas cupcakes.
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Frank Montanaro; her parents; nine brothers, three sisters; infant son, Andrew; son, Andrew; grandson, Christopher Todd and daughter, Anna Kost.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Agnes, James (Andrea), Frank, Nicholas (Chris Belna), Rose, and Carmella; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law/Godmother, Lucy Montanaro and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 9 - 11 am at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Marjorie’s life at 12 (noon) at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse. Entombment will take place at the family mausoleum in Assumption Cemetery.
