Mark Dale "Morris" DeRegis' Obituary
On Friday, September 13, 2019, Mark DeRegis, our beloved brother passed away suddenly in his Los Angeles, CA home of natural causes at the age of 69. Mark was born on August 29, 1950 in Syracuse, NY to John M. and Joan (Garden) DeRegis. He received a Bachelor of Mathematics at SUNY Oswego in 1972. Following a short tenure teaching for Onondaga Central School District, he pursued a career as an insurance claims agent for Kemper Corporation. Mark’s love of sun and surf soon led him to California where he worked for The LA Times and lived for 45 years until his passing. Mark was passionate about his Christian faith and treated all with kindness and generosity. He welcomed anyone in need with open arms and a comforting embrace. His loving spirit and hearty laugh will never be forgotten.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Joan (Garden); his brothers, Ronald, John J. and Robert, and his niece, Katherine. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Carol) of Jamesville, NY; sisters, Karin of Syracuse, NY and Janis (Craig) Woodard of Belle Mead, NJ; his sisters-in-law, Jean (Robert) and Annie (Ronald); eight nieces and nephews, eight great-nieces and nephews, and three great-great nieces and nephews.
