Martha Eleanora Cali's Obituary
Martha Eleanora Cali, died on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Martha was born in Union City, NJ and attended nursing school. As Second Lieutenant Martha Happell provided nursing services for WWII servicemen when she met her late husband, Alfred Cali. Once married, Martha transitioned from urban to rural life moving to a farm in Fulton, NY. She adjusted to her new rural life by pushing a lawn mower wearing her fine urban attire; she raised a family of six dedicated ,loving children. Following her divorce, she pursued new activities. Martha, an avid seamstress, worked at JoAnne Fabrics and perfected her quilting. She left her children and grandchildren many beautiful quilts.
Martha was and remains very special. She dealt with difficult times with understanding, decency, and determination to do what was best for her family. Always the optimist, she pulled bright gems from the difficulties that life sometimes leaves. She was our foundation and strength.
Martha will be dearly missed: her cackling laugh, dry wit and humor, and most of all, her patience and tolerance. She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Ferrara (Benjamin), her sons Alfred (Marilyn), Robert, Jamie (Audrey), David (Tina), and Stephen (Bonnie); grandchildren: Jami Lynn, Nicole, Steven, Erin, Erica, Nina, Morgan, Kelly (Evan), Megan, Matthew, Stephanie, Jonathen; great grandchildren Leland, Connor, Gianna, Blake.
A private memorial will be held for Martha at a later date. Donations can be made in Martha's name to the SPCA.
