Mary F. (Carno) Fortino's Obituary
Mary F. (Carno) Fortino, 80, passed away November 13, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late James G. and Fenora D. (Albino) Carno. Mary graduated from Assumption High School and worked in the rectory at Assumption Church for many years, where she volunteered her time for many church fund raisers and was a member of their Altar-Rosary Society. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren whom she was so proud of.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, John L. Fortino in 2020; her son, John M. Fortino in 1988, and her brother, James C. Carno in 1982.
Mary is survived by two sons, James L. Fortino and Stephen J. Fortino; her daughter, Regina M. (Robert) Fenner; her grandchildren, Marisa and John Fortino, Michael, Victoria and Emily Fenner; daughter-in-law, Cindy Fortino; her cousin, Angelo Bono, whom she was very close with, and several other cousins.
Special thanks to the nursing staff of unit 2-5 at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the exceptional care they provided to Mary and her family.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Assumption Church, 812 N. Salina St., Syracuse, NY. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Assumption Church Food Pantry, 808 N. Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13208.
