Mary A. (Martinowsky) Colosimo's Obituary
Mary A. (Martinowsky) Colosimo, 88, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020. Mary was born and raised in Carbondale, PA and after marriage, relocated to Syracuse. She was employed by the Carbondale Dress Factory, Syracuse China, The Syracuse City School District, and Dr. Howard Wolhandler. Faith was important to Mary; she was a long-time communicant of St. Peter’s and St. Vincent de Paul Church and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, the Legion of Mary, and Happy Roamers. She also volunteered at numerous church functions. When Mary wasn’t devoting her time to others, she enjoyed making ceramics, sewing, gardening, cooking and baking. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, and visiting her hometown of Carbondale, PA.
Mary is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Francis in 2002; her parents, Alex and Ann (Migdal) Martinowsky; her sister, Helen (Charles) Klem and her best friends, Sandy Mercuri and Hazel Stagg.
Mary is survived by a son, Gary and two daughters, Cynthia (Peter Hitchcock) and Christine, all of Syracuse; a brother, John (Barbara) Martinowsky, of Leesburg, FL; along with many nieces, nephews, and her dog, Cooper.
Calling hours will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 am on Friday, July 24, 2020 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 342 Vine Street, Syracuse, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm in the church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at the Bishop Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on C North, who provided loving care which Mary deeply appreciated during her time there.
