Mary E. (Ciaccio) Conti's Obituary
Mary E. (Ciaccio) Conti, 92, of Camillus, passed away Friday at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Antonio and Philomena (Messina) Ciaccio. Mary was a resident of Camillus since 1955; it was here she enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a great cook. Her Italian specialties and mountains of Italian Cookies at Christmastime were enjoyed by many.
Mary was a devout Catholic, and was a longtime parishioner at Holy Family Church in Fairmount where she volunteered in many capacities; in her later years she was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Camillus.
Mary very much enjoyed golfing, and was a long-time member of Tuscarora C.C., along with her late husband Jim.
She and Jim proudly supported the West Genesee Marching Band and Color Guard during the 1970’s where they found great friends and shared many happy times.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Conti in 1998, after 51 years of marriage; her granddaughter, Corinne Craig, and sisters, Nancy Ruffolo, Josephine Tully, and Connie Campagna.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Lisa (David) Craig and Maria (Anthony) Corso; granddaughters, Emily (Thomas) Donnan, Sophia Corso, and Gabriela Corso; her brother, Victor (Cynthia) Ciaccio, along with many nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to give special thanks to all of the wonderful staff at Iroquois Nursing Home for the compassionate care they gave Mary during these last 2 ½ years. Additional thanks go to all of the caregivers at Camillus Ridge Terrace and Park Terrace who took care of Mary for the seven years prior.
Family and friends may call from 9 – 10 am on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Mary’s life at 11:30 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Camillus. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CNY Alzheimer’s Association, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
