Mary Ellen (Perkins) Sunser's Obituary
Mary Ellen (Perkins) Sunser, 88, wife of the late Carl M. (Sonny) Sunser, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 20, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late James G. and Marion (Burgess) Perkins.
Mary Ellen was born October 15, 1932, in Syracuse, NY. She was a graduate of Vocational High School and worked at New York Telephone and later Dey Brothers. She also tenderly cared for many children in her home including her grandchildren.
After meeting and marrying Sonny, they raised their family on Syracuse’s North Side. She was deeply devoted to family always putting herself second. Mary Ellen made everyone who entered her home feel like family with her loving ways, great sense of humor and homemade cooked meals for all to enjoy. She loved ceramics, soap operas, Hallmark movies, deals on QVC, celebrating holidays, and most importantly, spending time with her beloved family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Ellen is predeceased by her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Molly and Clifford Goodspeed, Margaret and Chuck McManus.
Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Kim (James) Robinson, James (Roseann) Sunser, and M. Bridget (Mario) Carbone; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) Sunser, Ashley Robinson, Sean Sunser, Casey (Leanne) Sunser, Kyle Robinson (fiancé, Courtney Giufre), CJ Carbone, Jake Carbone; one great-granddaughter, Madison Rose Sunser and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank all the staff from Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place for the devoted care they provided.
A funeral service in celebration of Mary Ellen’s life will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse. Family and Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2020 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Road, (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
