Mary Rose Fiumara's Obituary
On August 16, 2011, Heaven received our most precious mother, Mary Rose Romano Fiumara; things won’t be quite the same in Heaven from now on! Mary passed from this earth peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.
Mary was born on February 3, 1916 in Caulonia, Reggio Calabria, Italy and arrived at the port of New York in 1929, where she and her mother, brother and sister were greeted by their father.
During her life Mary was a devoted wife, mother and caretaker of all who needed her; not to mention being the greatest cook and hostess. She and her late husband, Anthony were among the founding parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where Mary was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Mary volunteered with both the Boy and Girl Scouts and the countless other functions involving her children. She was a member of The Lincoln-Republican Club and The Daughters of Columbus. Mary also worked for the Board of Elections at Polling Stations for many years.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Anthony; mother and father, Teresa Lupis and Nicola Romano; sisters, Rose Romano, Viola Romano Flaherty and Antoinette Romano Gozzi; brother, Nicholas Romano.
Mary is survived by daughters, Teresa Fiumara-Dubik (Robert) and Patricia McMahon (Eric) and son Anthony N. (Delilah); eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Josephine (Joseph) Lazzaro; brothers, Illario, Louis (Angela) Romano and numerous nieces and nephews.
