Mary (Alessi) Guanciale's Obituary
Mary (Alessi) Guanciale, 91, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Friday with loving family by her side. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Diego and Josephine Alessi. Mary was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking and hosting Sunday dinners. Mary also loved traveling with her husband, including trips to visit family in Italy. Mary was an avid SU sports fan. After raising her family, Mary retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital pharmacy, and was a member of their retired employee organization.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony P. “Tony” Guanciale in 2013, two sisters, Lena Alessi and Mildred Dadabo, and her brother, Rocco Alessi.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Richard (Mary), and Mark (Kathi); a daughter, Joanne Dunn; nine grandchildren, Anne, Jennifer, Kimberly, Michael, Nicholas, Kelsey, Danielle, Rachel and Sean, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 9:30 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:30 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
