Mary (Nardelli) Killius' Obituary
Mary (Nardelli) Killius age79, of Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from complications from Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in Syracuse, NY, on November 21, 1935 and graduated from North High School in 1953. In 1956 she married the love of her life, Jim. They celebrated their 59th anniversary last week. Throughout their life together the most important thing to her was always her family. Mary was diagnosed with MS at age 18 and her only concern was to be able to raise a family with Jim.
Her illness kept her mostly homebound in recent years but she was always tuned in to current events and the world around her. Mary was pretty handy with the computer and loved playing a few hands of solitaire every day. She looked forward to watching Oprah and Ellen and, of course, The Young and the Restless. Mary looked forward to Saturday visits and lunch with her brother Frank and Sunday dinners with anyone in the family who could be there. Family meals were always important. She was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church.
She was predeceased by her brother, Orazio “Bob” Nardelli; her parents, Giovanni and Antoinette Nardelli; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Emma Killius, and her brother-in-law, Carl Killius (Mary).
Mary is survived by her husband, A James Killius; two sons, John Killius (Mary Anne Hahn) and David Killius (Donna Borgus); one daughter, Kathy Killius Regan (Jared Weeden); four grandchildren: Kelly Killius and Karra Battaglia (Dan), James Regan and Sean Regan; three great-grandchildren, Clare, Samuel and Lucy Battaglia; her brother, Frank Nardelli (Betty); sister-in-law, Mary Raven; brothers-in-law, Robert (Beverly) and Walter (Nancy); many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as her wonderful team of caregivers.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Mary’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in her memory to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Avenue, Syracuse, NY, 13208.
