Mary C. (Santoro) Nicotra's Obituary
Mary C. (Santoro) Nicotra, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.
Born in Catania, Sicily, Italy daughter of the late Salvatore and Vera (DiFrancesco) Santoro, Mary came to the Unites States with her family in May of 1949 and lived in Albany for one year before moving to Syracuse. At 18 years old, Mary started working at General Electric in Electronics Park for nearly 10 years.
In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her husband, Gerardo in 2005, and her brothers, Charlie Santoro, Vincent Santoro, and Sam Mobile.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Carmela (Richard) of North Syracuse; her two grandsons, Christopher Gregory (Laura) Carden of Dallas, TX and Eric Thomas Gerard Carden of Watertown; her brother, Joseph (Lyuda) Santoro of Liverpool; her sister-in-law, Linda Santoro of Liverpool; her brother-in-law, Salvatore Nicotra of Genoa, Italy; along with nieces and nephews.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. The joy of her life was her grandsons. She will be forever missed.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum.
