Mary M. (Dinovelli) Planeta's Obituary
Mary M. (Dinovelli) Planeta, 92, of North Syracuse, passed away on Thursday May 2, 2019 at Iroquois Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Southbridge, MA to the late Amadio and Rose (Tobia) Dinovelli.
Mary came to Syracuse in 1956 with her husband Clement. She was a gym teacher at St. Rose of Lima for many years, she also is a life time parishioner at St. Rose. She started selling real estate and continued this for over 40 years in N. Syracuse.
Mary was very involved in raising money for Onondaga ARC and donated a lot of her time at the Malta House in N. Syracuse.
Her passions were golfing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her son, Stephen and two siblings.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Clement Planeta; four children, June Caro of Syracuse, Judith (Daniel) Joss of Cicero, Jay (Jayne) Planeta of North Syracuse, and Mark Planeta of New York; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Mary’s life at 10:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
