Mary (Stagnitta) Popple's Obituary
Mary (Stagnitta) Popple, 94, was born in 1921 at the family home in North Syracuse. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Mary was a life-long resident of North Syracuse. She attended Brown School which was located on Buckley Road and then attended North Syracuse High School which is now Main Street School.
Mary retired from General Electric where she was employed for 35 years. She was a member of First Christian Assembly. Mary loved crocheting Afghans which she made for many relatives and friends. She entered many of her Afghans in the New York State Fair where she won numerous ribbons. She was also famous for her chocolate chip cookies.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Popple in 1996. She was also predeceased by her parents, Carmelo and Francesca Stagnitta; her brothers, Joseph, Rosario, Salvatore, Anthony and Alfred Stagnitta; her sisters, Josephine Ragonese, Sarah Oliveri; Rose and Margaret Stagnitta.
Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
