Mary E. (Homola) Serio's Obituary
Mary E. (Homola) Serio, 92, of Cicero, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at The Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late John and Lillan (Shannon) Homola and graduated from North High School. Mary was employed with Syracuse City Hall and Levine Real Estate. She resided at Country Village in Orange City, FL after retirement and volunteered at Florida Hospital in Deland, FL. Mary was an avid bowler and golfer and was a charter member of Village Greens Golf Club and member of Arrowhead Golf Course.
She was predeceased by her husband, Mark B. Serio in 2000; her sister, Frances Hines Bambury and brother, John Homola.
Mary is survived by her four children, Mark C. Serio, Susan M. Serio Miller, Thomas J. (Sharyn) Serio and Sandra J. (Craig) Stroh; three grandchildren, Matthew (Lyiah) Serio, Stephanie (Anthony) Kowlessar and Stephen (Amy) Miller; great-grandchildren, Trevor Miller and Emma Serio and numerous Castner grandchildren and their families; sister-in-law, Maria Homola, along with many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to everyone at The Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero for the loving care provided to Mary keeping her comfortable and assisting the family.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
