Mary A. (Trovato) Scala's Obituary
Mary A. (Trovato) Scala, 96, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at St. Camillus Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Auburn, NY, to the late Rosario and Frances (Fishera) Trovato. Mary was the family matriarch with her loving and giving-caring ways; she never let a Sunday go by without a home-cooked Italian meal. She loved to be surrounded by family and enjoyed pressing her luck at the casino with her beloved husband, Anthony and her sister, Helen. Mary had a love for children and made everyone she knew or had just met, feel important, like they mattered. Mary was loved by all and will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by the love of her life of over 75 years, her husband, Anthony E. Scala, her first grandson, John Gadaleta, and her brothers, Nick (Thersea) and Joe (Connie) Trovato.
Mary is survived by her children, Nick (Jan) Scala, Roseanne (Dino) Gadaleta, and Tony (Carole) Scala; her grandchildren, Anthony (Heather) Gadaleta, Connie Mary Gadaleta, Jeff Scala, Michael (Flavi) Scala, Tony Jr. (Emma) Scala, and Courtney Scala; her granddaughter-in-law, Kimber Gadaleta; her 5 great-grandchildren, Dusty (Alex) Saas, Jamie (Britney) Gadaleta, Jude Nash, Jack and Leon Scala-Gagnon; her great-great-grandchildren, Dakota Saas and Rosalie Gadaleta; her siblings, John (Angie) Trovato, Helen Perrotti, and Frances (Dick) Mollica; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A brief visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. immediately followed by a prayer service at 11:00 A.M. in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, 800 Grant Blvd., Syracuse, NY.
