Maryanne (Griffin) Hines' Obituary
Maryanne (Griffin) Hines, 79, passed away at home surrounded by family on January 21, 2020 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. She was born in Syracuse, NY, on May 4, 1940, daughter of the late Kenneth and Mabel (Caron) Griffin. She is predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” Hines, and stepbrother, Warren “Sonny” Shields. Maryanne is survived by 7 children, Kenneth Hines, Kevin Hines, Keith (Charissa) Hines, Karl (Jennifer) Hines, Kathleen (David) Carson, Karen (Mark) Hance, and Kristin (William) McGarrity; 15 grandchildren, Andrew, Holly, Madison, Griffin, Greyson, Garrett, Mattea, Jediah, Rachel, Mabel, Michael, Christopher, Claire, Lincoln, and Julia; 2 great-grandchildren, Lucy Garcia and Jack Hines; 2 sisters, Carol Wood and Kathleen Scanlon, along with many nieces and nephews.
Maryanne was a lifetime parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Church and graduated from St. Vincent de Paul High School as Valedictorian. She enjoyed baking, canning, teaching religious education, summers spent on Oneida Lake, and cherished time spent with her family. Maryanne will be remembered for her unwavering faith, love for her family and friends, and kindness to everyone she met.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Maryanne’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 342 Vine St., Syracuse, NY, with entombment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church.
