Merwin E. "Stubby" Stevens' Obituary
Merwin E. “Stubby” Stevens, 77, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Thursday surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Erwin and Luella (Ingersoll) Stevens. Stubby was employed for over 19 years with the NYS Dept. of Transportation. He was a CSEA activist, serving in many capacities, including president of Local 013. His passion and expertise led him to employment with CSEA, where he worked for over 20 years, retiring in 2007 as a labor relations specialist.
Stubby is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Antoinette “Toni” Stevens; his son, Edward Stevens; his daughter, Julie (Mitchell) Hickey; step-daughter, Melanie Deisz; four grandchildren, Kristina, Gracie. Joseph and Emma; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Braedon and Anna; his sister, Lynee (Jerry) Hamm; step-mother, Joyce Stevens; nephew, Nathan; niece, Kelsey, and several cousins.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 4 to 6:30pm followed by a funeral service in celebration of Merwin’s life at 6:30 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mr. Mo Project, 641 Grooms Road #235, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
