Michael J. Bottega's Obituary
Michael J. Bottega, 52, of Cicero passed into the loving arms of His Savior on Christmas Day after a brief illness with his beloved wife and best friend by his side. Born in Syracuse on November 11, 1958, Michael lived in Liverpool until moving to Cicero in 2000. Michael was born a fighter accepting any and all challenges set before him. Beating the odds against him, his fortitude was put to the test at age 14 when he was diagnosed and successfully defeated Hodgkin's Disease. Michael graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1976 and received his Bachelors Degree in computer science from SUNY Potsdam in 1980. He married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Maria Martino on September 12th, 1981, thus beginning their wonderful journey they always knew they would enjoy together. Michael's professional career began at MONY as a Computer Programmer where his hard work and devotion to service earned him the trust and admiration of his peers. He advanced steadily throughout his career. He took employment with Navisite for several years and completed his career at AXA Equitable as Database Administrator. Michael was an avid motorcycle and snowmobile enthusiast and engaged whole heartedly in many interests. He was liked by all who had the pleasure to have known him as his family and numerous friends would attest. Michael will be missed but never ever forgotten. He was predeceased by his father, John Bottega in 1999 and his brother, John (Butch) Bottega in 1992. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Maria M. (Martino) Bottega; his mother, Mary (John) Connzelmann of Baldwinsville; brother, Louis Bottega of Liverpool; several nieces and nephews and his beloved canine companion, "Kaly". Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 8:00 AM in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home and 9:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
