Michael L. Canestrano's Obituary
Michael L. Canestrano, 95, of Fairmount, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Iroquois Nursing Home. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Massarotto) Canestrano. Mike was previously employed with Porter Cable, General Electric and retired from Crouse Hinds as a Tool & Dye Maker. He was a member of Holy Family Church and the Italian American Athletic Club. Mike loved all sports; he played baseball, enjoyed golfing and bowling and belonged to different bowling leagues over the years. He enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, Florida with his wife.
He is predeceased by his wife, Olga V. Canestrano in 2013 as well as his brother, Michael R. and Florence Canestrano.
Mike is survived by his son, Michael A. (Denise) Canestrano; his daughter, Betty (Timothy) Indelicato; grandchildren, Daniel (Katie) Canestrano, Beth (Kevin) Schwartz and Alyssa Marie Indelicato; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Chase, Wyatt and Ashland; sister-in-law, Louise Iannotta; his uncle, Nick Massarotto, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 9:15 am – 11:15 am at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Mike’s life at 12:30 pm in Holy Family Church. Entombment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mike’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
