Michael Castner's Obituary
Michael D. Castner, 70, of Brewerton, passed away peacefully at Upstate University Hospital on Sunday, November 23, 2014. He was born in Southern California where he resided in Redondo Beach. Michael loved the Pacific Ocean and everything it had to offer. He was both a Fireman and Deputy Sheriff for the County of Los Angeles. In 1976 he married Sharyn Allen and moved to Central Square, NY. Michael was a driver for AMSA and later returned to school where he earned his R.N. license and found employment at Onondaga County Department of Corrections. He enjoyed golf, music and classical guitar. His beautiful sense of humor and genuine caring for people naturally brought joy to everyone he encountered.
Michael is survived by Sharyn (Allen) Castner, Beverly Warner, three sons, Michael (Kathy Gugliotto) Castner, Shane (Denise Johnson) Castner, and Christopher (Helen Wang) Castner; two daughters, Ana (Jim) Jones and Christina Whitney; three grandchildren, Michael, Stacey, and Shane; two brothers, Fred (Margie) Castner and Jim (Cynthia) Castner; his sister, Margaret Gersthauer, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Our lives have been greatly blessed by Michael’s presence and he will be truly missed.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Michael’s life will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
