Michael J. Del Vecchio Jr.'s Obituary
Michael J. Del Vecchio, Jr., 69, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Upstate University Hospital. Michael was born in Syracuse to the late Michael, Sr. and Lucy (DeYulio) Del Vecchio. He was a 4th Ward Counselor for the town of Salina, coached softball, and was the president of Lyncourt Little League. Michael received a grant for the Lyncourt Little League from Michael Bragman, an accomplishment he was very proud of. Michael was a communicant of St. Daniel’s Church for many years and even taught confirmation classes to young adults. His Italian heritage was also very important to him and was a proud member of the IAAC Club. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Michael is predeceased by his sister-in-law, Nancy Del Vecchio.
He is survived by his son, Michael A. (Ashley) Del Vecchio, of Westmoreland; a brother, John Del Vecchio, of Syracuse; two grandchildren, Anthony and Kyler Del Vecchio; a niece, Jessica Barnes; along with several cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 7, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Michael’s life at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s name may be made to the Mattydale- Hinsdale Little League.
