I remember Mike from many pleasant musical sessions with the 'Big Toot Recorder" group. I will miss him.
Mike was a talented musician as well as an athlete and coach. He was an excellent recorder player with the 'Big Toot Recorder Ensemble' of Upstate New York, and a welcomed member of the trumpet section in the Oswego County Band Chapter of the New Horizon International Music Association.
Members of both groups remember and miss him.
My late brother, Erik Dalaker, and I had the honour and privilege of being coached and mentored by Coach - both in and out of the pool. He had a tremendous impact on our development as both scholars and athletes. As a lifelong learner, he inspired us to pursue our intellectual curiosity.
I extend my sincere condolences to Marty and their entire family.
And to Coach, thank you for everything. You will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to family and friends. May memories of happy times shared comfort you as you grieve and mourn. May he rest in peace.
In the last couple years before Coach retired from LHS, he would tell a story about a Junior who joined the swim team and could barely make it across the pool. My son is that boy. Coach's patience and belief in my son gave him the strength to achieve his goal of making the varsity cut. Thank you Coach. May you rest in peace. You are missed.

Coach impacted my life greatly. In the pool, he not only pushed me to reach my full potential as an athlete, but also as a teammate and leader. Outside of the pool, he challenged me intellectually and musically. Even after graduating from high school in 2014, I would always look forward to playing music with him (especially the part where we took a break to enjoy Marty's famous brownies or cookies; I will never forget how he could only drink milk with them) and sailing with him and other teammates during breaks.
When my dad passed away in 10th grade, Coach was one of a handful of people who stepped in to become a mentor. He helped me get through a tough time in my life. Because of this, it is no exaggeration to say I would not be where I am today without his guidance, and it is no exaggeration to say my future accomplishments are significantly influenced by his teachings and friendship. I wish I could have explicitly told him this before his passing, but I suppose there are some things that don't need to be said. I always felt like we understood each other.
My thoughts and prayers are with Marty. His memory and legacy lives on in me and many others.
Coach Ferrell was an extremely generous man who never stopped learning and never stopped teaching. He truly found ways to inspire our athletes to become not just better swimmers, but better all around people. They grew stronger in many arenas on account of his guidance. As a staff member, Coach Ferrell was as dependable a they come and was truly a person we enjoyed sharing a pool deck with. The man could talk for hours about swimming, music, sailing...and a host of other topics. His brilliance has impacted hundreds of lives and he will be remembered by many for his wisdom and kindness. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Marty...who continually supported Coach Ferrell and his efforts at the pool
