Michael J. Janus' Obituary
Michael J. Janus, 93, of Cicero, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at St. Camillus Health and Rehab surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Julian and Mary (Burghardt) Janus and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
In his early years, Michael was an Executive with the Boy Scout Council in NYC, which moved him to Syracuse to cover the CNY region. His career path led him to following his passion of becoming a Stockbroker for several decades. He enjoyed being a member and President of the Aquarium Society of CNY, an officer of the N. Syracuse American Legion. He enjoyed playing his trumpet, violin, playing rounds of golf and the general outdoors. He embraced kindness, having a generous spirit and loving heart.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Julian (Eddie) Januszewski.
Michael is survived by his daughter Catherine (Jason) Thomas, son Christopher (Jennifer) Janus, and four grandchildren: Parker, Alec, Oakley and Meredith. Michael is also survived by former wife, Mary Janus.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. followed by a funeral service in celebration of Michael’s life at 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
