Michael "Mikey" Edward Cota's Obituary
Michael “Mikey” Edward Cota, 44, of Liverpool, NY, went peacefully to be with the Lord Sunday, June 18, 2017. He is predeceased by his mother, Ellie Cota, who he missed dearly. They are together once again.
Michael is survived by his father, Lawrence Cota, his Aunt, Anne Simiele; brothers, Jim McClenthan, Bill McClenthan, and Dennis Cota; sisters, Karen Cota, Debbie Juliano, and Sandy Judd; nieces and nephews who so cherished him and the time they spent together; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom loved Mikey dearly. Mikey is leaving behind many, many friends.
Mikey was known as the “star” of his family. He lit up a room, he made everyone laugh, and he loved everyone he met. In turn, everyone he met loved him. It was impossible to see his smile and hear is voice and not fall in love. He was the light in some of life’s darkest tunnels.
Mikey enjoyed so many things about his life - spending time in Florida with his dad. He loved going to “coffee hour” and playing bingo. He loved the warm weather, and most of all, he loved his dad. He called him every day they were not together, most of the time more than once!
Mikey loved spending time with his siblings. A few weeks before he passed he took a motorcycle ride with his brother and best buddy, Jim. His smile could have been seen from space. He loved being a part of his community, especially GiGi’s Playhouse. He was always asking about upcoming events and when he could go see his friends there.
He loved his Aunt Anne dearly; in fact, he often called her “dear”! They were two peas in a pod. The love between them and the bond they shared was nothing short of inspirational.
He loved going to church and worshiping the Lord. He adored the people in his church and the adoration was certainly mutual.
Simply put, Mikey loved everything about life. He truly loved unconditionally and taught those who were lucky enough to know him to do the same. It never mattered who someone was, where they came from, or what sort of back story they had, everyone had a friend in Mikey; Everyone. He loved with his whole entire being. He loved with a love so strong it overcame all else.
Mikey will be so sorely missed. He is home with his mom now, he so longed to see her again. He will leave behind a legacy and an impact like no other. Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him was undoubtedly better because of it.
