Jerry Calo
I was very sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. Mike was my trigonometry teacher back in 1976 and, without question, saved me from summer school. He called my mother to inform her that the final exam was extremely important and that I needed to take it seriously or I was facing “extended education”. My mother asked Mike his recommendation on how to proceed and he said, “have him in my room every day next week after school and before baseball practice”. It should be pointed out that he did not have to do this on his own personal time but his incredible commitment to teaching would not allow that thought to enter into his thought process. He will truly be missed not only for his dedication but also for his enormous capacity to be kind. My condolences to all of his family and his friends.
