Michael Dominic Pirro "Mike"'s Obituary
Michael Dominic Pirro "Mike", 83, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Friday, September 14th. He was a lifelong resident of Onondaga County and a graduate of St. Lucy's Academy.
Mike was a prominent figure in the Central New York automobile business. He was President of Pirro Brothers Ford for 33 years, and an advisor for many years to Dave Pirro Ford. Mike was a former director of the Syracuse Auto Dealers Association and Chairman of the Upstate Ford Dealers Advertising Board.
Mike and his wife enjoyed traveling all over the world and many ocean cruises, but he especially treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren at Tuscarora Lake. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Holy Name Society, Solvay Tigers, Solvay Seniors and a former President of the Hilltop Club. He golfed as a member of Westvale and Highland Woods golf courses.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Pellegrino and Rafaella Pirro, and his son David.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years; Sue (the former Lucy Lewis); children, Michele (Thomas) Bailey, Laurie (William) Smiley, Jeffrey (Lisa) Pirro and daughter-in-law, Ellen Pirro; grandchildren, Kevin and Claire Bailey, Bryan and Wesley Smiley, Adam and Alexander Pirro, Jessica and Emily Pirro; and siblings, Rocco Pirro, James (Ellie) Pirro, Lucy Pirro and Carmella White, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45 AM on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Mike’s life at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia's Church in Solvay. Entombment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd) North Syracuse, NY.
