Michael J. Port's Obituary
Michael J. Port, 71, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Donald and Louise (Drake) Port. Mike graduated from SUNY Brockport and was employed as a teacher and coach with the North Syracuse Central School District for many years.
His passion was for sports, and helping young athletes excel in their individual sports. Over the years he touched many student athletes as a soccer, soft ball and baseball coach. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and golfing.
He was an avid SU sports fan, and a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Dorothy Woods; daughter, Melissa Port; son, Tony Port; granddaughter, Julia Port; sisters, Katie (Dan) Steinbach Leciejewski and Cher Rapp; stepchildren, Laurie McDaniels and Gregory (Stefanie) Woods; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private funeral services will be held for immediate family.
