Michael A. Rachetta's Obituary
Michael “Mike” Anthony Rachetta, 54, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Crouse Hospital surrounded by his family. Mike was born in Syracuse to Joseph and Joanne (Santaro) Rachetta and graduated from Jamesville DeWitt High School. He was employed for many years with AC Legnetto Construction as well as Lockheed Martin where he proudly worked as a Senior Assembler in addition to serving as the Union President for IUE-CWA Local 320 from 2011 to 2020.
Mike cherished his big Italian family and spent majority of his time surrounded by those he loved. He was most happy when he was cooking and grilling for his family. He found immense joy in watching every sport possible on TV and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan his entire life. Mike’s favorite music included Frank Sinatra and Styx and he loved quizzing his children with “who sings this song?” while driving in the car with them.
Mike made friends with everyone he encountered and was known as the person who “had a guy” for everything. Mike thought of his close friends as his family, to know Mike was to love him. He was the most selfless and compassionate person in the world.
Mike is predeceased by his father, Joseph Rachetta, his aunt, Barbara Santaro, and his former mother-in-law, Giovanna Musuraca.
He is survived by his mother, Joanne Rachetta, former spouse, Andrea (Musuraca) Rachetta; his children, Lauren Rachetta and Michael Rachetta II; his siblings, Paul (Karen) Rachetta, Maria (Jason) Simpson, and Theresa (Cyrus) Noble; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse.
