Michael T. Yorton's Obituary
Michael T. Yorton, 49, life-time resident of the Syracuse area, and well-known Armory Square ‘Publican’, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Michael, born in Syracuse, grew up in the Chittenango area and graduated from Chittenango High School in 1991. Michael was best known as the creator and face behind the well-known Blue Tusk, a beloved institution in Armory Square. He was truly a pioneer and visionary in the craft beer industry. Michael enjoyed traveling and had a love for being outdoors in nature. A humanitarian at heart, he was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and loved nature. Michael was always a friendly face, there to lend a hand to others, especially his fellow “Tuskafarians”.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Irene and George Pearce and his paternal grandparents, Connie and David Yorton.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Gina Lozito-Yorton; his parents, Tim and Sandy (Pearce) Yorton; his sisters, Shannon (Bryan) Goodfield, Riann Yorton, and Cailan (Josh) Miller; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Michael’s life will take place at 10 am on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Assumption Church, 812 North Salina St. Syracuse. A celebration of Mike’s life will continue from 12 – 3 pm at Lemon Grass Restaurant, 113 Walton St. Syracuse.
