Nancy Kathleen (Dart) Ross' Obituary
Nancy Kathleen Ross, 67, originally of Ithaca, NY, currently of Valrico, FL., passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016 after an extended illness. Born August 8, 1948 to parents Louise Goddard Dart and John Dart, she spent the majority of her life in Ithaca. Nancy worked as a preschool teacher for over 30 years and proudly raised her daycare ‘babies’ lovingly as her own. Over the years she has remained in touch with many of those she cared for and watched as they have become successful adults with families of their own. Nancy was given a second chance at life in 1995 after undergoing a liver transplant and she was always grateful for the extended time that gave her.
Nancy was one of the kindest, genuine, generous, and talented people to have graced this world and it will certainly be a little less bright without her sweet spirit. She was also one of the strongest and most resilient women many of us have ever known. She certainly overcame many obstacles and kept a positive spirit in spite of the many challenges she faced during her life.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 14 years, James A. Ross; her daughter, Jackie (Pete) Campbell; her son, Jonathan Ross; step-son, James E. (Kristen) Ross her sister, Joanne (Tom) Williamson; her brother, John (Mary) Dart; her grandchildren, Bryn, Landon, and Cade (whom she ADORED!) and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Nancy’s life at 10:00 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. We also ask that you please consider designating yourself as an organ donor so that someone else may have their continued chance at life.
