Nena (DiPaola) Dunn's Obituary
Nena (DiPaola) Dunn, 95, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Loretto. She was born in Sicily and resided in North Syracuse for many years. During WWII Nena worked for Carrier Corp as a Marine Aircraft Welder. She went on to work at Bristol Laboratories. Nena and her husband Joe also ran N. Syracuse Billiard’s Lounge and Dunn’s Frostee Freeze in the 1960’s. She then became a Supervisor at the Computer Center for Marine Midland Bank. After her retirement, she worked for Michael Bragman in his campaign office.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Dunn in 1995, one brother, and two sisters.
Nena is survived by her four children, Joseph M. (MaryPat) Dunn of Alexandria Bay, NY, Rosanne Martin (Michael Russo) of North Syracuse, Edward V. (Linda) Dunn of Maricopa, AZ, and Kathleen M. (Charles) Keese of Schoharie, NY; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, James P. Russo; her sister-in-law, Susan DePaola, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 9:00 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Nena’s life at 10:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.), North Syracuse, NY.
