Nicholas Robert Burns' Obituary
Nicholas Robert “Bobby” Burns 65, of North Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. Bobby, a decorated US Army Vietnam War Veteran throughout his career, was awarded a Purple Heart, Air Medal, Army Commendation Metal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 4 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal Ribbon w/ Device (1960), Marksman Badge w/ Auto Rifle Bar and Sharpshooter Badge w/ Machine Gun and Rifle Bars.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Ann (Kleist) Burns and his brother, Daniel.
Bobby is survived by the love of his life and wife of 34 years, Ann Marie (Richards) Burns; his two loving children, Edward “EJ” (Tia) Burns of Baldwinsville, Katy (Jeff Dunseath) Burns of Liverpool; two grandsons, Aydan and Carter; a future granddaughter on the way in April; five siblings, Edward Burns of Tampa, Ann (James)Foster of Syracuse, Mary Pat (Collier Smith) Burns of Williamsville, NY, Sue (Joseph) Sheley of Tampa and Katherine McBride of Syracuse; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Bobby’s family would like to give a special thanks to James Foster, Jr., St. Joseph’s Hospital MICU and ER, Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network, and Dr. Robert “Dr. Bob” Constantine.
A Funeral service in celebration of Bobby’s Life will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Assumption Church. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network or the Wounded Warrior Project.
