Nicholas "Nick" Cardarelli's Obituary
Nicholas “Nick” Cardarelli, 85, of North Syracuse, NY passed away on Thursday December 14, 2023, with his four children at his side. Survivors include his children, Jessica (Jerome Seeley) of Kirkville, Andrew (Bruce Howard) of Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON, Sharon of Cincinnati, and Daniel Cardarelli of Liverpool; his brother, Larry, of North Plainfield, NJ; grandchildren, Laura Jones of Cicero, and Sydney Cardarelli of Manhattan, and step grandchild Kevin Seeley of Brooklyn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their children in the US and Italy. Nick is predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Franca, and his brother, Peter.
Nick was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and was employed by Western Electric, later retiring from NYNEX. Heartbroken by the loss of his wife nine years ago, Nick was happiest when his family was together, from bedtime singalongs back when his children were young to the current Christmas Eve traditions with the extended family gathered to sing carols. A lover of reading, music, and sports, Nick played guitar and the piano. He diligently followed local and NY sports teams. The family feels a sense of hollowness in his absence. There will forever be a void.
A funeral service in celebration of Nick’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, with entombment to follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum, Baldwinsville. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
To continue his generosity in life, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial fund in his name for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital at http://fundraising.stjude.org/goto/NicholasCardarelli or the National Kidney Foundation at https://kidneytribute.rallybound.org/NicholasCardarelli
