Nicholas W. Nicotra, 54, of North Syracuse, passed away Sunday at Upstate University Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and resided in the Syracuse area for many years. Nicholas was employed at Upstate Hospital for 22 years as Read Obituary
Nick was a colleague of mine in the sterile processing field. He was a part of my Central Service advisory committee and instrumental in the growth of my CST program at OCM Boces. It was a great pleasure to know him, he was always a kind and wonderful person of encouragement. I will truly miss his contributions to our field, he was very passionate about protecting patients and proper techniques for sterile processing. My heart and prayers go out to Debbie and her family during this time. I will miss Nick very much and my prayers are with you.

I knew Nick all my life. we lived 2 doors away from each other growing up. knew his siblings and mom very well. Nick was such a sweet caring human being all his life. We played sports through our childhood and just hung. the last time I saw Nick was at the IHM reunion. It was like we never parted. Just talked about old and new times. Such a shock to hear of his passing. My prayers and heart go out to his wife and family. He will always be in your heart and memories. God Bless you Nick to your next journey in Heaven!!!!!
i grew up about 10 blocks away from Nick in Brooklyn. We both ended up working at the same place here in Syracuse! Initially I thought it was our connection from home that made me feel warm and at peace when I talked to Nick. After knowing him for some time and seeing his relationships with other people I realized it was more than that connection, it was that Nick was a truly special person. He always had a smile and faced adversity with courage and grace. When I walked past his office the other day I wanted to smile and cry at the same time. I deeply mourn his loss.
I take comfort, and hope his family takes comfort in the fact that he is at peace, and that he made the world a better place while he was with us.

Dear Debbie and Family, We are so sorry to learn of Nick's passing. He, you and your entire family were wonderful neighbors to Merle. She thought so much of Nick and truly enjoyed and appreciated being treated numerous times to dinner at one of Nick's favorite Italian Restaurants with all of you. She was so impressed that he even ordered for her at least once! We also remember his kind words, genuine emotion and tender hugs as he comforted us at Merles memorial.
