Nicholas S. Saya's Obituary
Nicholas S. Saya, 82, of Syracuse, passed away July 23, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Rose P. (Riccardi) and Joseph J. Saya, Sr. Nicholas graduated from North High School and served in the U.S. Air Force as a Cryptology and Communication Specialist. Nicholas was the co-owner of Saya HVAC and Sheet Metal Fabrication in Westvale Plaza. He was an avid skier, All City Football and Greek Peak Racing Club supporter and sponsor.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Leon Saya; brother-in-law, Merino Merola II and good friend, Anthony “Midnight” Salvaggio.
Nicholas is survived by his twin brother, Joseph J. Saya; his sister, Joanne (Saya) Merola; sister-in-law, Margaret (Brancato) Saya; niece, Ruth Ann (Saya) O'Connor, Sean O’Connor and kids, Merino and Darlene Merola; Merola (Great) nieces and (Great) nephews, Cathy Ann (Saya) Boyle, Saya (Great) nieces and (Great) nephews, Anita Santaro and Family; close friends, Anthony Liparulo, Richard Decarlo, Ronald Deluca, Daniel Fuliehan, and his dog, Eva and fish, Dean.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW National Headquarters, 406 W. 34th St., Kansas City, MO 64111.
