Condolences and Blessings to cousin Pat, Maria, and Maddie, I want to share this precious memory of Aunt Ninette from my childhood, of her dancing and singing around the dining room in the big house on Fayette. It was very late, dark except for the usual candle’s light in front of the Little Infant King on the sideboard. But I was up with Grandma Mariangela - most likely for a bedtime snack of cold rigatoni - when Aunt Ninette returned home from a date with a man named “Leon” who’d taken her to see “West Side Story”. She was completely elated. I didn’t know yet about “falling in love” but I imagine she may already have fallen for good with the man she later married. What I’ve forgotten is if she woke up any one of the many sleeping in the house that night. But I’ll never forget her pure contagious joy dancing and singing “Maria” and other songs from the show at the top of her voice.
