Norma Ryan's Obituary
Norma Ryan, 62, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully, after a short aggressive battle with lung cancer at St. Joseph’s Hospital with her sister, Aida, by her side.
Born in Spanish Harlem, NYC, Norma studied and received her BA from Pace University. After a few career changes, she went on to work in information technology as a project manager for several decades.
Norma enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, going to the beach, and the occasional margarita. Most of all, she enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving dinners, July 4th cookouts, animals of all kinds and above all, spending time with family and friends.
Norma was world-renowned for her lack of patience. She was a go-getter and if you stood in her way… good luck! Norma was notorious for not holding back her opinion and had a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.
Although she was a force of nature to be reckoned with, she had a heart of gold. Norma did not have children of her own, yet she was the biggest mama bear around. She always made sure everyone was taken good care of and if an issue arose, she would move heaven and earth to make sure you got what you needed.
Norma was predeceased by her parents, Francisca Colon and Miguel Soto. She is survived by her companion Dave; her sisters, Aida and Gloria; nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was very loved and taken from us too soon. She will be sorely missed. If you would like to pay your respects, you are welcome to attend calling hours on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 5 – 6:30 pm, followed by a memorial service we are holding in her honor at Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home.
