Norma Stagnitta's Obituary
Norma Stagnitta, 97, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, March 4th, 2016, in the company of those who adored her. A life-time Syracuse resident, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Rita Alexander and grew up surrounded by the beautiful love of eight brothers and sisters. At age 17, she married the late Samuel Stagnitta and enjoyed 56 years as his beloved wife.
Although Norma was employed part-time in the Crystal Room at the Addis Company, her most treasured role was that of a mother to her four daughters. Later, when she became a grandmother to her three granddaughters, she perhaps gave new meaning to the word "spoiled".
Norma was a long-time faithful parishioner at Assumption Church, and often baked her famous chocolate cake for church functions. She felt equally at home in her apron cooking up a storm of delicious Italian food as she did riding around town in a convertible with the top down. The best part about Norma’s warm affection was that it was always accompanied by a mischievous sparkle in her eye. The joy she created on this earth will be missed greatly.
Norma is survived by her daughters, Patti (Lance) Pfluke, Jeanni Blasland, Karen (Nicholas) Lobello, and Kathy Schwob; granddaughters, Deanna Pfluke, Cherise (Daniel) Kelly, and Ashley Blasland; great-grandchildren, Connor and Bryce Kelly.
Norma's family would like to express their deepest thanks to those individuals who showed compassion and love in caring for Norma at James Square.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 10,
2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Funeral services and cemetery will be private.
