Palma Spensieri's Obituary
Palma (Pisani) Spensieri, 96, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late James V. and Dolores (Sacco) Pisani. Palma worked at Learbury's for over 45 years as a seamstress and was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church and a member of St. Theresa's Society. Palma also volunteered at the Thrift Shop of St. Joseph's Hospital. Her greatest joy in life was cooking and spending time with family, especially her moments with her nephew, Jay Gelormini.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Spensieri in 1981. Palma is survived by her daughter, Dena DeFuria of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren, Dawn DeFuria of St. Charles, MO, Rae DeFuria of Syracuse, Jennifer DeFuria of Syracuse and Jeffrey DeFuria of Syracuse; a brother, Luke (Ruth) Pesane of Syracuse; a sister, Mary Gelormini of Syracuse; son-in-law, Jeffrey DeFuria along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
