Paolina Villani's Obituary
Paolina Villani, of Syracuse, at the age of 102, joined her beloved husband John in heaven on Saturday, July 27, 2013.
“Nonna Paolina” was born in Campobasso, Italy, on January 25, 1911 and came to Syracuse in 1949. She worked at Julius Resnick for 25 years. Paolina was a parishioner at Our Lady of Pompei Church. She was the matriarch of her family and touched many people’s lives. She was a woman of many talents who loved cooking, crocheting and sewing for her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Villani in 1980. Paolina is survived by her daughter, Louise (Pino) Marzocchi of Syracuse and son, Victor (Sarah) Villani of Jamesville along with 11 grandchildren and their spouses and 17 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother, Alberto (Rosina) DiCristofaro and many nieces and nephews in Italy.
Paolina’s family will forever be grateful to the nurses, therapists and staff at Iroquois Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided and for their support of her family during their time of need.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 9 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse, where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm.
