Robert was a partner of Tri-Arts Studio, a commercial merchandising art and photography service from 1965-1972. In 1972, he left the business community to become the founding pastor of Church of the Living Word, which has grown into one of the largest independent full-gospel churches in Syracuse. In 1979, he founded Living Word Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private Christian school, fulfilling his desire to provide affordable, Christ-centered education. That same year, the church purchased a 135-acre campground in Parish, NY. He also preached the gospel on local radio and television for many years. The church closely supported children’s’ homes in India, and recently opened one of the largest food pantries in Central New York.
Robert had various hobbies and interests, such as boating and fishing, hunting, marksmanship, and photography. He was a skilled woodworker who designed and built custom, provincial and mission-style furniture for his family. In the summers, he loved nothing better than cooking gourmet pizzas at Living Word camp and enjoyed being the BBQ pit boss for hundreds of fellow campers.
