Paul H. Smith, 66, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Boonville, NY, the son of the late Paul H. and Betty (Phelps) Smith, Sr. Paul graduated from North Syracuse High School and received his MLR at Michigan State, MBA at Syracuse University and two Bachelor Degrees from Lemoyne College. He was a Human Resource Director with Carrier Corporation, Bristol and ESCO Turbine Technologies. Before he fully retired, Paul taught at Bryant and Stratton. He immensely enjoyed teaching and connecting with his students. Paul was a hard worker and devoted his entire life to his family. He loved coaching his children’s little league and softball teams. Paul could be found most days outdoors and enjoyed working outside. He shall be remembered for always taking care of his family and putting a smile on their faces. His sense of humor was appreciated by all those who knew him, especially children. He cherished his late in-laws, and tended to them faithfully. But most of all, he loved spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren who adored him. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Helen. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carleen (Scarsi) Smith; his four beloved children, Anthony Smith of Liverpool, Jonathan Smith of New York City, Michelle (William) Santiago of Jamesville and Courtney (Ryan) Sprague of North Syracuse; four cherished grandchildren, Anthony and Joseph Smith, Liam Sprague and Gia Santiago; six sisters, Phyllis (Tim) Bates , Pamela Reichard, Patricia (Edward) Attala, Priscilla (William) Kinney, Peggy (Alan) Gazlay and Paula Rowe; two brothers, Peter Smith and Patrick (Christine) Smith; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Patricia Scarsi, Patty and Bill Halpin, Corky and Tom Bersani, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 11:30 am in St. Margaret's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Contributions in Paul's memory may be made to Assumption Food Pantry or St. Margaret's Food Pantry.
