Pauline G. Costantini's Obituary
Mom celebrated her 99th birthday earlier this month and passed from this world at 3:55 AM on Saturday morning in her own room, at home on the North Side of Syracuse. She lived her entire life in the area after arriving to this country from Morolo, Italy in 1926. Her parents, Luigi and Mary Mancini, her husband, Giuseppe, her two siblings, Theresa Cummings and Jean Aiello and her eldest daughter, Lucille Cannella predeceased her. Although she worked in the laundry department of St. Joseph's Hospital and the Pocket Book Factory, her entire life was devoted to taking care of those in her family and in her neighborhood whenever there was a need. We don't think there were many streets on the north side that she didn't walk down or many houses that weren't the recipients of her chocolate, butter or jelly filled cookies. Later in life, she worked in the cafeteria at Franklin Elementary School and babysat for many of the children whose Dad's were interns or residents at St. Joe's. She also worked at Henninger High School giving out lunches to the students. Mom volunteered for years organizing and handing out clothes at the Rescue Mission and at age 84, still wanting to be useful, worked at Salt City Systems in the bindery. She is survived by her baby sister, Lillian Zongrone, daughter, Maria Frey and her children, Debra Chioncio (Anthony), Denise Noli (Bob) and Cathleen Frey; son, Joseph Costantini (Grace) and their children, Nicca Lebeda (Matt), Aaron and Cara Parker (Jay); a grandson, Robert Senn, son of the late Lucille Cannella; a daughter, Anne Vinciguerra (Louis III) and their children, Christian, Katie, Erica Fanelli (Nicholas), Ryan (Stephanie), Bradley, Joel, Elizabeth and Jessica. Mom also has four great-grandchildren, Danielle, Christopher, Maxwell and Reed and several much loved nieces and nephews. Her life was centered on God and family. Her strength, will and determination were unsurpassable. We are so happy for you, Mom, life will be easy now and you are "walking on streets of gold". We love you, Joey, Maria and Anne. Funeral services were private at the convenience of her family. THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME is handling local arrangements. Contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088 or Name of Jesus Restorations Ministries, 1022 N. Townsend St., Syracuse, NY 13208.
