Petar Ristevski's Obituary
Petar Ristevski, 91, of Minoa, NY passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026. He was born in Velusina, Macedonia (former Republic of Yugoslavia), on March 7, 1935. He married his wife Menka of 68 years in 1958 and shortly after emigrated to East Syracuse, NY. He is survived by his wife, sons (George and Nick), daughter-in-law (Vicki) and grandchildren (Sarah, Thomas and Emily).
He was known for his remarkable work ethic, his dedication and sacrifice for a better life for his family and for his devotion to his faith and church, St. George Macedonia Eastern Orthodox Church in Syracuse, NY.
In 1960, Petar began a lifelong career in the grocery business as a grocery proprietor of Liberty Market in downtown Syracuse, working along-side his father-in-law and two of his brothers-in-law for 45 years. Upon retirement in 2005, Petar and his wife resided in Minoa, NY.
Petar was an example to all, particularly to his children, of a strong work ethic and commitment to family. Despite not having an education, Petar stressed the need for higher education to his children who both have had successful college educations and professional careers. Despite long work hours, Petar enjoyed working in his garden growing a variety of vegetables and beautiful roses. He was a lifelong avid fan of professional boxing and soccer.
Friends and family may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY, on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. with the Trisagion prayer at 6:00p.m. A private funeral and burial service for family will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Petar’s memory may be made to St. George Macedonian Eastern Orthodox Church.
